To understand the Cevahir shopping mall better, we have compared it with some places of İstanbul Technical University. Same building elements have been used for different purposes and perception. We have tried to reread the circulation and transportation via stairs, elevators, entrances and halls. During the comparison process we have analysed that stairs and elevators are also purposed as advertising propaganda while they are only purposed as a circulation element at university. Also, in the university’s library hall and at the university’s entrance gate walking action itself shows a conscious behaviour while at shopping mall walking action is more oriented with marketing strategy and so unconscious behaviour observed on mall’s visitors. In addition, shopping mall is a public place while the university is semi-public place. It seems in video also as visual explanation of what we have observed.
